As soon as they are, we will inform all subscribers who have chosen to be on our mailing list.

We have also of course, (again, obviously), revised the release date of STRIP: The Adventure Comics Magazine Issue 3. While the issue has been prepared for some time it has also been affected by the same issues impacting on the rest of this project.

However, we do at last appear to be reaching some resolution of these difficulties and, while like you we remain cautious and therefore do not wish to commit to definite announcements or release dates, we are optimistic that we might finally be "through the tunnel" very shortly and will have good news for you and all our readers.

Our publisher Ivo Milicevic is planning to be at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival next month, where we hope readers will have the chance to ask him about STRIP and our other publishing plans.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7087715904629617094.post-91681604313184701002013-08-01T04:24:00.001-07:002013-08-01T04:24:45.528-07:00STRIP #2 - WH Smiths Stock List

We'd like to put it down to sabotage by Enemy Apes and dimensional rifts, but the delay to getting the print edition of STRIP: The Adventure Comics Magazine Issue 2 into newsagents has been down to far more mundane (but probably more complex) reasons.

But, at last, our distributors have confirmed receipt of the Magazine from our UK printers and they are aiming for it to be on sale from Wednesday 31st July.

Our printers are also in the process of dispatching subscription copies.

(No, we can't quite believe it, either).

Once stock has also reached our UK book warehouse we'll be dispatching copies to Diamond for comic store delivery.

We're very sorry for the delay to the Magazine, and we're going to have to apologize right away for what will now be the early September release date of Issue 3.

Because of costs of distribution and a crinkle in the inner workings of one of our major UK distribution points that would mean releasing Issue 3 in August would cost as much as it would to promote three issues from September onwards, we have decided to delay the release of Issue 3 until the beginning of September.

IN ISSUE 2...

Wrapped in a Crucible-inspired cover by Benard Kolle (colour by Sebastian Cheng), the second stunning issue of Britain’s newest action adventure anthology includes strips from John McCrea, Stephen Downey, John Freeman, Smuzz and more.

COMING SOON...

King Cobra resumes in Issue 3, drawn by Doctor Who Adventures artist John Ross, while further down the line we have an all-new Cobra stories in the works from Wamberto Nicomedes (who drew the Issue 1 opener)!

All your favourites will continue and we have plans for new strips well into 2014 from artists including Bernard Kolle, Marc Olivent and many more. (And yes, those are plans on the basis of getting the title firmly back onto a monthly schedule...)

THANK YOU!

"Looking from the outside in, we appreciate that after the way STRIP has been knocked sideways, uphill and down dale due to its overseas administration, you must be thinking we're gluttons for punishment by now," says our publisher Ivo Milicevic. "But when you've put as much time and effort into a publication, a project I really believe in, you don't let go easily. I hope you, our readers, won't either.

"Thank you for your comments on Facebook, Twitter (good and bad) about STRIP: The Adventure Comics Magazine. We do read them all. We've taken a lot of them on the chin, too.

"We're now hoping the project plan is firmly grounded in reality for it to continue and we appreciate your support and creative involvement."
Much later than expected or planned, we can now confirm STRIP: The Adventure Comics Magazine Issue 2 should now be on sale in newsagents from Thursday 20th June 2013.

Subscription copies are also being handled from the UK.

"The changeover and behind the scenes administration involved in this has taken longer to resolve than expected," he says, "but the change should mean the Magazine will no longer suffer delivery delays and import issues associated with past releases.
Print Media's STRIP: The Adventure Comics Magazine,
an all-ages British adventure anthology comic, is now on sale in selected UK high street newsagents (and available to order from any
newsagent).

The new comic – inspired by the great adventure comics of Britain’s comics past such as Eagle, Valiant and Lion - features some great art and stories from some brilliant creators including John McCrea (Hitman, The Boys), Smuzz (2000AD), John Freeman (Doctor Who), Milo Horvatic (Marvel) and Richmond Clements (Renegade) - plus comics news and interviews and other features.

The
move to Britain’s high street is the latest stage of publisher Ivo
Milicevic's desire to bring the anthology to a wider audience in the UK,
in addition to its continued sale in comic shops and as a digital
edition for iPad, in association with ROK Comics.

Headed up by
long time comic creator Ivo Milicevic, Bosnian-based comics publisher
Print Media began the long road to bringing a British version of their
action adventure anthology to the UK back in February 2010, after their
re-publication of Dan Dare from the 1950s comic Eagle drew the attention of comics fans.

Print Media publishes three comics-related magazines in Bosnia, including Strip Magazin and a localized edition of Metal Hurlant.

Mr Milicevic began to investigate the possibility of bring his STRIP
brand to the UK, horrified to discover the British comic characters he
had grown up reading such as Steel Claw, the Spider and Black Archer
were nothing but distant memory. Although these incredible heroes had
been re-published in the former Yugoslavia and indelibly helped shape
his life-long love of comics, the British titles that spawned them -
weekly comics like Lion and Valiant - were long gone from the news stand, replaced largely with licensed fare and more magazine-based titles for teenagers.

Unimpressed,
he decided to take the plunge and trial a new action adventure
anthology through UK comic shops. The first volume of STRIP was intended to road test the title and story ideas - and iron out any issues arising from its long distance publishing.

Although
Mr Milicevic freely admits the journey has not been easy at times, with
the support of some of Britain's best and brightest comic creators
those first seven issues got the positive reaction he was hoping for.
The response made him all the more determined to join the likes of 2000AD, Commando and The Beano in WH Smiths and other select newsagents.

Offering a mix of action adventure, science fiction and fantasy strips, stories in the pipeline include Dragonrir, a stunning fantasy tale by Miljenko Horvatic and Damir Zitko; a thrilling story of the criminal underworld, Deliverer, by Miljenko Horvatic, drawn by Bernard Kolle; WarWorldz by Stephen Walsh and Giancarlo Caracuzzo; the tale of an ancient warrior battling magic, Thracius, by James Hudnall and Mark Vigoroux; plus the return of other strips, including Age of Heroes by James Hudnall and John Ridgway and The Devil’s Heritage by Jerome Felix and Paul Gastine.

"I am really excited our plans for STRIP Magazine are
finally developing as I planned three years ago" says publisher Ivo
Milicevic. "There is no certain formula for success, but the Magazine
will have some good stories and really great art."
(Updated 16/4/13 with confirmed sightings - thanks to all our readers!)

Here's a list of WH Smiths (and other stockists we know of thanks to our readers) across the UK that will be stocking Strip #1.2 when it goes on sale on the week beginning 8th April 2013.

Once the issue goes on sale our distributors, Warners, will be able to supply a list of Independent newsagents stocking the title, too and we plan to post that here.
In the mean time, please do ask in your local newsagents, as any newsagent can order a magazine for you even if they don't have it in stock. We're aware, for example, that no Northern Ireland outlets are listed below.

The magazine is also available for iPad and will be on sale in UK comic shops from Wednesday 17th April. The Diamond order code for UK comic shop orders is MAR132384.

Subscription copies were dispatched from Bosnia with the aim of them arriving this week.
STRIP: The Adventure Comics Magazine is heading for the UK news stand at last - to be released in news agents in the week beginning 8th April 2013.

The iPad edition is on sale now (link).

Bosnian-based comics publisher Print Media has confirmed its long-intended move to bring the adventure anthology to select high street newsagents is finally underway, after a “test run” of seven issues in UK comic stores.

The line up of the monthly anthology magazine will be a mix of action adventure, science fiction and fantasy strips, alongside feature material about the world of British comics, including the continuation of Black Ops Extreme, centred on a secret anti-terrorism team; Crucible, a creator-owned science fiction story; teen heroine thriller, Warpaint; and the return of 1970s action hero King Cobra, in all-new stories, under license from original publisher DC Thomson.

Creators in the launch issue include Jim Campbell, Richmond Clements, Stephen Downey, Nick Dyer, John Freeman, Phil Hester, Miljenko Horvatic, John McCrea, Wamberto Nicomedes, Maxim Simic and Smuzz.

Plans and strips for the Magazine are fully commissioned for the next 12 months but include:
Print Media publishes three comics-related magazines in Bosnia, including Strip Magazin and a localized edition of Metal Hurlant.

"I am really excited our plans for STRIP Magazine are finally developing as I planned three years ago" says publisher Ivo Milicevic. "There is no certain formula for success, but the Magazine will have some good stories and really great art.

Ivo, who grew up with British comic characters such as Black Archer, Steel Claw and The Spider, which were reprinted extensively in former Yugoslavia, has been working in publishing for nearly 25 years. After college, he worked as journalist, and later as a publisher. Print Media's business centres on print for the comic industry.

Complementing the re-launched magazine will be more UK comics albums, adding to its current titles - Iron Moon, Frontier and Mirabilis. Plans include collections of some of the strips published in the first limited edition run, including Black Ops Extreme, drawn by PJ Holden.
The digital edition of Strip Magazine #7 for iPad is on sale now from iTunes, and Diamond UK have confirmed the print edition will be on sale in comic shops from Wednesday 19th December.

This edition of the magazine is a Christmas Special that takes a slightly different form to the usual magazine.

We have an exciting new episode of Phil Hester and John McCrea's regular series WARPAINT to kick it off, but you'll find the Magazine is largely devoted to a variety of one off stories.

By way of a hint of things to come next year, we also have a sneak look at several all-new stories including THRACIUS by James Hudnall and Mark Vigouroux; DENIZENS (by Miko Horvatic and Maxim Simic), which we think is set to prove another hit with our readers; DAN BARTON OF SPACE COMMAND (by John Freeman and Andrew Chiu), an affectionate comedy homage to space heroes; and CORWIN BLAYS, a festive tale starring a hapless thief!

The digital edition also features some exclusive extras, such as a quirky festive tune, and added 'data cards' with background information on the characters and some creators, along with a video trailer for David Lloyd's digital project, Aces Weekly.
After several unforseen and unwelcome delays due to shipping issues, Strip Magazine Issue 5/6 - a giant-size double issue of Print Media's action anthology - will be in stores tomorrow (Wednesday 31st October 2012).

Priced at £4.99, the 96-page special features a cover by John Ridgway and is another comic shop-only issue and wraps the first Black Ops Extreme story arc by John Freeman and PJ Holden and concludes James Hudnall and John Ridgway's Age of Heroes fantasy adventure - for now.

This special giant size edition has even more comic strip action and adventure than ever, with almost a dirty dozen pages of Black Ops Extreme as the the do-or-die military team try to end an embassy siege in London - and confront a ghost from their past.

Also in the issue, the battle for the future of Earth hits the streets of Houston in Warpaint (by Phil Hester and John McCrea); the gripping conclusion to the first Devil's Heritage adventure (by Jerome Felix and Paul Gastine), as dangerous Nazis hunt a diabolic treasure; elven magic in Age of Heroes; and not one, but two STRIP CHALLENGE winning stories, one by Stephen Baskerville and the other by Paul Rainey and Robert Wells; and two episodes of classic Action comic strip Hook Jaw.

Features this issue are interviews with creators Leo (Mirabilis) Hartas and Nick (Hugo Tate) Abadzis.

• Please note that due to the delayed release of this issue, features and information on the future plans of the title printed in the issue are completely at odds with the current aim of a 2013 news stand launch for Volume 2.
After innumerable delays STRIP #5/6 is finally on its way to the shops and to subscribers.

“It’s a case of if anything could go wrong, it did,” explained Mike Conroy, head of Print Media Productions UK operation. “I’m not going to attempt to justify the title’s lengthy absence but I would like to apologise to readers – especially to subscribers – for the inexcusable delays, which they have accepted with great equanimity.”

As for the future, STRIP #7, with a cover by Croatian artist Maxim, will be an 84-page issue carrying a £4.99 cover price.

The Christmas special includes a classic Dredger episode from the controversial 1970s British comic, Action.

PMP is then putting STRIP on deliberate hiatus but only until February, when the comics anthology is to be relaunched as a newsstand title.

“We will be using this time to continue to resolve many of the problems we have encountered. One of our top priorities will be secure a UK shipping company which will be able to deliver STRIP efficiently and on time,” stated STRIP publisher Ivo Milicevic. “You wouldn’t believe what sort of problems we have had with carriers… one entire print run is still wandering somewhere in Italy while our latest shipment only got through on the second attempt… no one knows where or how the original vanished!

“I am amazed and grateful just how supportive our audience has been. I can promise that the relaunched STRIP – The Comic Magazine will bring more really great art and stories to he newsstands. It will be worth to wait,” he proclaimed.

STRIP #7 is currently in production and set to hit shops in the first week of December.
While at this point our new couriers are waiting for the print magazine to clear UK Customs, we're hoping this will be sometime this week and we hope readers will soon enjoy seeing the issue.
Earlier this year, unaware of the problems that would befoul our print magazine, we decided to split the content of the giant-size STRIP #5 roughly in half in order to produce two special digital editions. STRIP Issue 6, published in partnership with ROK Comics, is the second of these, and includes
The decision follows discussion with our news stand distributors who suggested that the autumn would be a far better time for the new incarnation to hit the newsagents.

"There are also vital issues that need to be sorted out, especially a guaranteed delivery cycle from Print Media in Bosnia" editor John Freeman commented. "Both myself and Mike Conroy, who is advising us on administration matters, discussed the situation with publisher Ivo Milicevic, who has bankrolled the project so far, and agreed the logistics of getting the first issue of the new incarnation printed and into the shops for our planned launch date were simply insurmountable at this time."

Once STRIP Issue 5 - a giant-sized issue - is released in comic shops in the UK next month (again, later than planned), STRIP will take a summer break.
Print Media Productions is pleased to announce that artist Stephen Downey has taken up the reins on Black Ops Extreme for STRIP - The Comic Magazine on a regular basis.

Stephen's run on BOX, taking over from PJ Holden (currently busy with Monsterology for Renegade), begins with the first newsstand issue of the title.

Stephen has already drawn two upcoming episodes, both written by new writer Richmond Clements, who has taken over the scripting of the story from John Freeman.

"We're delighted to have Stephen's continuing on Black Ops Extreme," commented editor John. "PJ set a really high standard with his work on the strip, but Stephen's clearly up to the challenge of following in his brush strokes.

"I came up with an overall 'arc' for BOX for the first 12 issues of the magazine, which Richmond is polishing up nicely, but his first two stories are more 'one shots', to draw new readers in as we relaunch the title.

"The 'arc' will resume with the third issue of the newsstand edition, which also sees the arrival of WarWorldz by Iron Moon writer Stephen Walsh and Giancarlo Caracuzzo."

Belfast-based artist and game maker Stephen Downey has worked with Insomnia
Publications, Titan Publishing, AAM/Markosia, Heske Horror, Comic a Gael
and Beserker to bring his comics and artwork to the masses.
He is the co-creator of Cancertown and Slaughterman's Creed, both with Cy Dethan and has worked on the Torchwood comic strip for Titan Magazines.

Most recently, he's been busy with the historical mystery adventure Jennifer Wilde, an original three-part comic book series published by Ireland's Atomic Diner, from a story by Robert Curley and Maura McHugh, with a script by Maura McHugh. Stephen provides art, lettering and covers.

Richmond Clements, from Larne, County Antrim, is a writer, editor
and colourist for the small press publisher FutureQuake Press. He has
also written Wild West Wendy, a supernatural western drawn by Vicky Stonebridge, and Turning Tiger,
a two-part science fiction comic drawn by Alex Moore, for Renegade Arts
Entertainment.

Richmond is also writing Operation Inferno for STRIP - The Comic Magazine, drawn by Nick Dyer, a steampunck action adventure starring the ninja secret agent Ryuu who debuted in STRIP – The Comic Magazine Issue 3.
Good news! STRIP Magazine #4 has finally arrived in the UK and will be on sale in British comic shops next week.

For those of you who have asked - and those that haven't! - the delay on the comic shop-only issues should not affect the news stand launch at the end of May.

We are making Issue 5 of our first volume a double issue (so there will now be no #6 Volume 1) to close some storylines and clear the decks for the new line-up in #1 Volume 2.
